This Life and All the Rest by Brit Benson Release Blitz & Review

 Release Date: November 15

She thinks our story is over.
It’s just beginning.

Lennon Washington has been the star of every dream, every nightmare, since the day I lost her.
Since the moment I let my demons win, and she slipped through my fingers.

Her memory has haunted me.
Changed me.
Broken me and remade me.
And I’d all but given up on us.

Now tragedy has brought her back into my life.
My secrets are at her disposal,
Hers are unraveling quickly,
And every emotion we’ve tried to deny is returning with a vengeance.

But we’re not kids anymore.
We have changed drastically.
And with each new ache, I start to wonder,

Is there a place for us in this life,
Or will we have to try again in the next one?

Meet Brit Benson

Brit Benson writes romance novels that are sassy, sexy, and sweet.

When she’s not dreaming up her next swoony book boyfriend and fierce book bestie, she’s reading.

When she’s not reading, she’s probably marathoning a Netflix series or wandering aimlessly up and down the aisles in Homegoods.

Brit currently resides somewhere near the Blue Ridge Parkway with her husband, daughters, and dogs.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I had the honor and pleasure of Beta reading This Life and All the Rest for Brit Benson and experience the growth and evolution of her writing. Macon and Lennon's second chance in book 2 was one of the most gutting and heartbreaking journeys to a HEA that I've ever read. So much stood in their way, forced them to veer off course and tore them apart. It seemed like at every turn, something or someone was trying to keep them apart. I'm not normally a fan of miscommuncation tropes but this story was like no other.

This couple had to fight tooth and nail to get to the bottom of their issues as individuals and as a couple. They had to sacrifice. They had to beg, borrow and steal. They literally had to hit rock bottom before they realized just how worthy they were of love and a life of happiness. But as Macon said, "And because no one will ever love Lennon the way I do." and those were the facts. Macon's entire life's mission was to prove to Lennon (and everyone else) that he was a good man and deserving of her love. Both characters grew immensely over the course of this duet, which I appreciated as a reader. The evolution was real!

Lets talk side characters. Who would have thought you could hate Claire more than you did in book 1? Oh. You just wait! Sam, you misunderstood little spoiled princess you. I never thought I'd be Team Sam but Brit managed to wiggle that little brat into my heart and prove just what a strong, independent force of nature she was. I absolutely adored her unlikely friendship with Len and grew to appreciate her as a woman and confidant, the more we learned about the sacrifices she made for her friend. Casper, you slay me. I hope you to get a story of your own. My little quiet but solid rock.

TLAATR had a lot of triggers. Be warned! But every roller coaster of emotions led to the most beautiful ending for Macon and Lennon. Their relationship was never meant to be conventional or easy. It was unpredictable, rough around the edges and gravitational. Shout out to the author for not writing a traditional romance epilogue.
