Washed Up: An Age Gap Medical Romance (Bayside Heroes)Washed Up: An Age Gap Medical Romance by Kandi Steiner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Second chance romance meets age gap with a side of child's best friend. What could go wrong?

Greg and Amanda's story had me so frustrated through the first 75% of the book. I was really worried that these two would let stupid reasoning and a slight age gap ruin whatever it was they were developing between them. Until justifiable conflict emerged, I was not loving this story. It seemed like two perfect people who deserved each other just didn't want it to work out. Well, one of them didn't. The other was all in from the start. But, I understood it. Your children will always come first and their feelings and reactions are extremely important. But at what point do you say enough is enough and live your life?!?! That's what drove me nuts for the majority of Washed Up. Amanda was the victim for so long and settled into that mentality that she was just meant to have whatever scraps were thrown her way. I wanted to smack some sense into her! She was an incredible woman, mother, friend, student, etc. She deserved more than she ever let herself believe.

The last 20% of the story redeemed the entire book for me, when the H and h finally put some effort into themselves and less into what everyone else thought or wanted! The first 3/4 of the book was 3 stars at best. The last 1/4 was 5 star. I was head over heels for Greg. I wanted him to get the girl and still keep his best friend. I wanted Amanda to finally see her worth and not settle for anything less. I wanted her to be loved and cared for like her ex should have done. I wanted her to see what life had to offer, since her youth was basically spent raising a child. Both characters deserved happiness and were finally able to find it in each other.

You could feel the heart break and emotion that Kandi poured into this story. I couldn't help but wonder how much of herself was entwined between these pages. The anxiety, worry and fear was all so real and compelling. The authenticity was undeniable.
