The Last Piece of His Heart by Emma Scott Release Blitz & Review
From USA Today and Wall St. Journal bestselling author, Emma Scott, comes the third and final novel in the Lost Boys series--a gritty, angsty love story about two lost souls searching for their place in the world, and what it means to be truly found.
The Last Piece of His Heart by Emma Scott is now live!
At Santa Cruz Central High School, they called them the misfits, the outcasts, the weirdos. But most of us knew them as the Lost Boys...
Ronan Wentz has been to hell and back, and he carries the scars to prove it. Worse, the blood of a monster runs through his veins. After ten years in foster care, eighteen-year-old Ronan is finally reunited with family. His uncle gives him a roof over his head and puts him to work, managing a shabby apartment complex in Santa Cruz, California.
But a second chance is still a second chance. Ronan becomes a solitary hunter, a vigilante, walking the streets at night to keep the nightmares at bay. If he can use the anger burning in his tainted blood to protect instead of hurt, maybe then he'll find the absolution he seeks.
Then he meets Shiloh.
Shiloh Barrera looks like she has it all together. Smart, ambitious and full of artistic creativity she channels into making beautiful one-of-kind jewelry. But Shiloh's cool, capable demeanor is all a front. Her demons drive her to succeed as much as her ambition. To prove her worth to the mother who can't stand to look at her, and who's harboring secrets of her own.
When Shiloh and Ronan meet, the physical attraction is instant and scorching. Neither believe it will last. Falling in love is an impossible pipe dream saved for those less shattered and damaged than they are.
But as hard as they try to resist, the growing feelings between them seem inevitable... until one terrible night destroys Shiloh's dreams and Ronan's future. When the smoke clears, and the rubble settles, they'll have to choose - do their pasts determine their future, or can they build a new one from the broken pieces of their hearts?

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Ronan and Shiloh's story was so chaotic and captivating. I held Ronan in a special place in my heart during the first two books of the series and knew that his story would end up breaking me. He was such a quiet and reserved young man but an extremely loyal friend to Miller and Holden. I knew his story would be deeply emotional, heart breaking, frustrating and beautiful. I just didn't realize how complex his history was and what a brutally similar match Shiloh would be for him.
Emma Scott did an amazing job brining together the most unlikely pair on the surface, but the most well matched once you started peeling back the layers of their pasts and what they were trying to rise above. Shiloh was such a fierce, independent young woman who knew exactly what she wanted and how she was going to get it. She didn't have time for love or relationships. She also didn't see Ronan coming and what a force he'd become in her world.
The love story that unfolded was gut wrenching at times. Two worthy people who felt that they were undeserving of companionship and unconditional love. They found their purpose in one another and it was absolutely heartwarming. The struggles they went through, alone and together were so far beyond what any teenagers should have to endure. But the struggles didn't stop when they graduated, if anything they became more complicated and unfair as time went on. The uphill battles both characters faced were unfathomable.
I liked that this couple's story spanned a longer period of time than just their high school years. You got to see the characters grow up into adulthood and what that meant for their relationship. The reappearances of Miller, Violet, Holden and River made my heart sing! Loved the ending, loved the HEA and I'm so sad that this was the end for the Lost Boys but I thought the author wrapped everything up so nicely for all of the characters and did the series justice!
