When We Met by Marni Mann was quite a unique reading experience for me! I liked the way the author thought outside of the box when it came to the format of her story and how she wasn't afraid to do things a little differently. I thoroughly adored both Whitney and Caleb. They were so different from each other, yet they went together like PB&J. Their entire story was heart breaking, agonizing, frustrating and beautiful. When We Met really forced readers to grapple with how someone's choices can impact the entire outcome of a story. How your future can look so different based on one decision. This book wasn't nearly as dramatic as I expected. I kept waiting for something to happen that would give me anxiety and heart palpitations like her other books. But once I finished the book, I was glad that she didn't try to make my heart race! Everything was subtle but packed a punch! The way the book was told in 3 parts kept my mind wondering and waiting. The prologue really throws you into an anxious mindset and that feeling never really goes away until the last page. At times I felt like things were moving too quickly for the couple but you have to remember that they were spending virtually 24/7 with one another in close proximity. Feelings and emotions can form very quickly in that type of environment. I tried not to dwell too much on the way things felt rushed and instead focus on how lovely things were ending up. The ending of this book was everything I'd hoped for. I wouldn't change a thing!
