Review: Things You Save in a Fire

Things You Save in a Fire Things You Save in a Fire by Katherine Center
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I adored this story about Cassie! A woman taking on a profession in a male dominated world. This journey through her various traumas and struggles was so heartfelt. Between the drama of being a female firefighter in a “good ol boys” small town station, dealing with her fractured relationship with her ailing mother who abandoned her as a teen, and her past trauma that caused her to never get close to a man, this read had so much emotion and was total quicksand of feelings. Despite being a relatively somber read, I laughed so many times, enjoying the wit that the author instilled in the characters.

I thoroughly enjoyed the last chapters of the book. I felt like all of the characters ended up exactly where they were suppose to be. I felt an overwhelming sense of relief and closure for Cassie. She was so incredibly strong and fierce.
