Review: Take a Hint, Dani Brown

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Zaf and Dani won me over from the get go! I adored both of their characters and for completely different reasons. Zafir was a complex character, with deep-seated emotional baggage and trauma. He was protective and nurturing in his own way. He cared immensely for his family and those in his small inner circle. I loved the self discovery he went through during the book! I felt like his character grew immensely.
Danika seemed to live her life as she pleased. Serving herself and no one else. Her choices were often selfish, but she was always up front and honest about it. She knew what she wanted and went after it. I enjoyed seeing Dani's facade slowly fall, bit by bit. The armor she wore everyday gained small dents and dings as she got to know Zaf and let him into her life, her head, her heart.
I'd consider this a slow burn romance story, even though the spark of chemistry was apparent from the first few chapters! While much of their "relationship" was all a show for social media, the undeniable attraction and respect these two characters showed one another was anything but fake. The bedroom scenes were absolutely scorching!!! I appreciated the author's ability to balance the physical connection with the emotional one between the main characters. They were attracted to one another on a surface level but also a mental one as well. Zaf admired Dani and her big brain and professional drive. He was enamored with her passions and desperately wanted her to succeed at whatever she set her mind to. The level of respect and understanding these two showed one another was on another level.
For someone who loathes 3rd person POV books, I barely noticed this book was written in that format because the author is just that incredibly talented! Talia Hibbert writes some of the funniest, most gut busting, painstakingly honest love stories.
