Grave by Shantel Tessier Release Blitz & Review

Release Date: August 31

GRAVE
My life went to hell years ago, and I've had a death wish since then with fast cars, women, and drugs. They don’t call me Grave for nothing!

But I do it because I need to feel something... anything.

What’s life worth living for without the high?

And then I saw her!

She’s too good for me, and I should stay away. But like any addict, I switch one drug for another, and I’ll be taking her to hell with me.

APRIL
I’m anything but sweet, despite what people think, so when he tells me I’m too good for him and I’m better off without him, I don't listen.

My life was simple before Grave stepped through that door, but who wants simple?
He makes me feel alive. It only took one touch, and I became addicted!

But therein lies the problem.

Addiction is Grave’s middle name, and when he tells me he’s taking me to hell with him, I don’t know whether to take that as a threat or a promise!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I freakin' loved this read!!!! The beginning took a bit for me to get into but once April the heroine was introduced into the story, I was hooked!!!! She was so unique and yet so normal. I loved how the author created a heroine that wasn't perfect. Wasn't runway ready at all times. Was a little abstract and proud of it. She didn't have money or power and was struggling to get by as a small business owner. Basically the opposite of everything Kingdom was. I really liked the way the initial introduction of the two main characters took place. It was so organic and emotionally driven.

Grave tore my heart in two, time and time again during this book! He was so broken and vulnerable. Constantly making poor choices with zero regrets. It felt like he was never going to right his ways and become the man that everyone around him knew he was capable of. Until April. But even she couldn't save him from himself. He had to want it badly enough. The ups and downs I felt during this read was draining! You just never knew how things would turn out.

There was just enough steam in this read to keep your attention. Kudos to the author for focusing more on the building of an emotional connection between H and h vs how much time they spent in the bedroom. It really built a solid foundation for these two. Yes there was some seriously HOT scenes but this book was about so much more than that.

The plot twist at the end had me wide eyed and shocked. The entire Lucy story line pissed me off beyond belief but it truly showed what a compassionate and caring individual April was. I fell more in love with her character.

I LOVED how the author wrapped up this book. It was just enough to make you feel satisfied but left the door open for so much more from these characters later on in the series.

There were quite a few triggers in this book that readers may want to be aware of:
substance abuse, suicide, sexual and physical assault. The author did a wonderful job negativing these topics tastefully and they were extremely well written, but still packed a gut-wrenching punch.
